What you can do in an era of yen weakness
Hello
I'm AKKO, in charge of the Radian blog 🌾
You may be tired of hearing the keyword in this title by now...
but I'll touch on it anyway — our shop is... (lol)
A friend asked me what to bring when they're going to the U.S. for about a month for work and will be cooking for themselves, so it reminded me of when I stayed in the U.S. a few years ago
Where I stayed there was an Asian supermarket nearby, so I did bring my favorite dashi stock mixes from Japan, but I told them that basically you can find what you want to eat locally
Of course it was more expensive than in Japan — but considering the current weak yen, prices are even higher than back then. With 1.5x inflation taken into account, it's more than double‼️ Yikes‼️
This fall, several jewelry manufacturers have again raised prices — yet again this year (the pace is incredible)
Hmm 🤔 can't something be done!?
Can't something be done about the weak yen!?
It may be something that needs action at the national level, but I wondered if there's anything I can do myself 🍐
What I can do right away is, if possible, buy domestically produced goods — buy from domestic manufacturers 🎌
By doing so, domestic companies might become healthier, and if the whole of Japan — often said to be in decline — becomes revitalized, maybe the weak yen will stop?⁉️
Even if my small change in mindset hardly affects the world, I'm hoping the weak yen will stop, so I think I'll try to consciously buy domestic manufacturers' products as much as possible 🥰
There are lots of great products from Japanese manufacturers
First, I'll choose Christmas presents from domestic manufacturers 💝
Suddenly bringing up Christmas presents, but at Radian now is the best time to consider items for Christmas 🎄
If you start considering now, you still have time to take your time 🤗
I'd like to say that, but shipping costs and such are rising at a shocking pace every day, so it might be better to decide sooner rather than later 😥
