About moissanite emerald-cut

Hello

I'm Akko, in charge of the Radian blog 🎀

The other day, during a meeting I was shown the latest piece❣️

It was a custom order from a customer — an emerald cut piece with intricate work on the sides. I was mesmerized by the delicate, bespoke craftsmanship ✨🤍

This time I'll introduce the recently very popular emerald cut 💚

Whether moissanite, diamond, or natural emerald, they won't shine beautifully unless they're cut 💎
The emerald cut I'm introducing here has a more calm, understated vibe rather than the sparkling brilliance of a brilliant cut 👑

As for how the emerald cut was created:
many emeralds are hexagonal prisms, so the cut was devised to minimize stone loss and make the gem look as beautiful as possible.

Also, as you can see from the photo above, many natural emeralds have inclusions
(there are so many inclusions that if there aren't any, people might assume it's synthetic),
and they tend to chip easily during cutting.
Here we shaved the corners of the top surface into an octagon to prevent breakage and cut the sides with a step cut 👏

Changing the subject, Radian's moissanite is hugely popular with those seeking an elegant sparkle 💛

If you already own round brilliant jewelry and don't want something flashy but are looking for an elegant shine, it's perfect — and I think it's hard to provide what customers want unless it's Radian's moissanite.

That's because for the emerald cut, the material is more important than with other cuts‼️☝

Because the table (the top surface) is large, you can't hide color or inclusions.

In other words, color and quality — as with diamonds — become crucial. Natural diamonds at that level would be astronomically priced...

So moissanite, which can be bought at one-tenth the price of diamonds,
is getting attention, and even among moissanites, I believe Radian may be one of the few in the country able to offer this level of quality.

At Radian, we can do custom orders starting from the cut.

There is also a golden ratio for emerald cuts.
A width-to-height ratio of 1 to 1.6 is recommended❣️

You can say "please use the golden ratio", but
tell us if you'd prefer something "more square" or "more elongated" — let us know your preferences♪
